Joanna Gaines is my spirit animal. I want to be her, and want her imagination when it comes to home decor. Growing up, I wasn’t the most organized or most crafty kid.  Being married now with two children home decor has truly become my passion. I love to repurpose and design new ideas for my home. I don’t do it professional, but I love to act like to do. Getting that “farmhouse” look is expensive and doesn’t come easy. It has taken me a while to get the look that I truly love on my home without breaking the bank. I have learned many new skills and have researched a lot of Youtube channels. We have built almost all of our projects in our home and I want to share them with you! The farm table, bench, chairs, coffee table, tv wall and fireplace, child’s stair gate and much more. I want to share with you how you can get this farmhouse look on a dime and not have to spend 100’s of dollars. Now my little secret is don’t try too hard, if you like it then buy it with a coupon of course. I live at Hobby Lobby and Kirkland’s, and if you are in the Dallas area, my favorite store is Frisco Mercantile.  Be creative. Be unique. Be you. I am a sucker for torquiest blue if you haven’t noticed. Alright, let me give you a quick rundown on a few of the fun projects we have done.

So, we bought this house as a spec home and I HATED these cabinets. After I put crystal knobs on them and gave it my touch I loved them.  You can find the knobs here.

I felt like this door was too boring, so I painted it blue. It is Ralph Lauren RLB1011. I have it every where in my house. I love painting accents in my home rather then full walls because I know I will get bored of this color in 5 years and can easily repaint a door rather then a whole wall. Yes: that Texas sign and rug are from Kirkland’s.

So funny story about this farm table, it is wood that was in the trash from our houses being built around us. Sshhh. Genius, I know. The chairs we got from craigslist and I repurposed the chair bottoms and painted it to match the rest of the table. This stain is Minwax Wood Finish in English Chestnut 233. The legs are Olympic ONE #0L158 STEEL ME. The place mats I got from HL and the runner from Kirkland’s. All the wall decor is from HL.The orb lights we made as well with the same paint color and quilt looms. I ordered the light part from Amazon and put it all together to make one cute orb. Originally orbs like these are pretty expensive, so making one saved us hundreds.

Another funny story about this mantle, my husband found it on the side of the road no lie. The pallet wall is made of 4 inch fence posts cut into pieces. Again, I used the same color as the table and wall. I also used BEHR ASHWOOD 2400 in eggshell for the grey. I didn’t want a harsh strong color, so I mixed each color with half water half paint and made my own white wash technique.

This table was a project my husband made and I am absolutely obsessed with it. Again I used the same color as the farm table but used my white wash technique on this as well. You can find the plan for this table here. We love Shanty 2 Chic and use a lot of her plans. Those orange pillows are from HL and are actually pillow covers.

IMG_6508This was one of our first projects actually and it was super easy. We went behind Home Depot and got a pallet that they were throwing out, cut off the back side and painted it with my Ralph Lauren paint. Mounted it to the wall and I love the pop of color it give my stairs. The rug is from HL.
