Growing up, I was the first to make my dad a card or a macaroni necklace, now that my husband is a father it is a little different on how gifts work. My birthday usually fell on Father’s day as a kid and I loved sharing a holiday with my daddy. My dad is the best dad around, and I know that we will all say that but truly he is. He worked 90 hours a week to provide for his 5 children. I would wait up every night, even till the day I moved out of my parent’s house just so he could tuck me into bed and we could talk about our day. He would spend countless nights at my dance recitals and choir concerts and was on the front row cheering me on. He was the first one to put a smile on my face and make me laugh if I was having a bad day. He truly showed me what a father figure should be like.
My husband has been an amazing father as well. His father has taught him countless talents and taught him how to truly love his family and always be attentive to his children. My husband is not a big “gifter”, he thinks it is a waste of money. Me on the other hand, love to spoil him. This is the time to thank him on his hard work and dedication to our family. With our little ones still babies it is more like me doing all the work and not so much them thinking of ideas on how to make his day special. In our house, the daddy runs the show, but I know a lot of families where the mama runs the role of both daddy and mama and that mama is a rockstar. As we get closer to Father’s Day, I thank God everyday for a hard working devoted husband that does everything to put food on the table, even if that means he sacrifices seeing his children for days at a time to do so. I thought it would be cute to come up with an analogy for gift ideas.
F- Fire! All men would love something to do with fire. Whether a grill for grilling that perfect steak or a fire pit for late night smores.
A- Apple! Now I don’t mean that juicy green granny smith in your fridge, I mean a new Apple computer or iPod. My husband is a Samsung lover, but we have recently gotten a new laptop and he is in love with it. I am slowly getting him on the dark side of Apple products.
T- Take Out! All men love food. And sometimes this mama just isn’t cooking for the night, so a gift card written with his name on it is perfect!
H-Hanger! Not that plastic white hanger in your closet, but a DIY hanger made with love to hang all those church ties on. I went to Hobby Lobby and got a wooden hanger, painted it and got some letters to make a cute tie hanger so that they would stop sitting on the floor. A perfect personably DIY gift for any new or old dad.
E-Electric Razor! My husbands face grows like a weed! He is not allowed to have any five o’clock shadow at all for work, so he shaves on his way to work everyday in his truck. An electric razor has saved him time and money on razors.
R-Radio! My husband works for the brown packaging company and loves his job, but he wishes there was A/C and a radio in the truck. A portable radio would be perfect for him to jam all day in his cute brown uniform.
These are just a few fun things to show your loving father figure in your life how much you care and appreciate them.
